Hi Michael and welcome to the forum. I’ve done a little digging into your questions and here is what I found. This is a bit of a hack so try at your own risk:To install STEP 7 v5.5 SP3 (DVD update release) follow these steps.1. Download and install the latest 64-bit version of automation license manager.2. Copy DVD content to any directory on hdd.3. Modify./Setup.exe using any resouce modification software. Eg ResourceHacker. Add the line//this is the os ID of Windows 8 64bit4.
Modify./InstData/Setup.ini under section OS.PlattformIDAllowed = 1;2;3Add the linesWin8x64=1Win8x64Exclude=SKU2;SKU3;SKU5;SKU8;SKU9;SKU10;SKU11;SKU12;SKU13;SKU14;SKU15;SKU16;SKU17;SKU18;SKU19;SKU20;SKU21;SKU22;SKU23;SKU24;SKU25;SKU47;SKU66;SKU67;SKU68Win8x64Warning=SKU2;SKU3;SKU5;SKU8;SKU9;SKU10;SKU12;SKU13;SKU14;SKU15;SKU16;SKU17;SKU18;SKU19;SKU20;SKU21;SKU22;SKU23;SKU24;SKU25;SKU67;SKU685. Modify all msi-files to enable the ingore-button on installation failures (like installing on unsupported OS’s). Use any software possible to manipulate MSI-files. InstEd.Search for DLGINSTALLATIONREQUIREMENTSDISABLEIGNORE.
Change Action from Disbale to Enable.Run./Setup to start installation. Press the ingore-button when told it’s not possible to install on running OS.Good luck and if you’re looking for an excellent text on this and Siemens programming – check out this book on Amazon, I highly recommend, it is excellent!Curious.

1.Open SIMATIC Manager.SIMATIC Manager is a program which manages subprograms of STEP 7.2.To start our programming first we need to create a new project by clicking on the “new” icon on the toolbar to open the “new project” window. In this window we enter a name for our project in the “name” field. The path to our saved project is shown in the 'storage location.' Dear SirI need another suggestion from you.Below is the problem that I am facing and any help from you will be highly appreciated:I am currently working on a commissioning project which has Wartsila Gas Generators. The Generators control system comprises of Engine Control ECU, which is named WECS ( Wartsila Engine Control System ). This WECS is connected to S7-300 PLC and HMI is TP 27. All the data is communicated/transferred via a single Profibus. Now our problem is that:-.The HMI is indicating a fault with a code ST 763. This fault code is “ OVERSPEED “. But actually the Engine is stopped now and so this error code ST 763 is false. We want to find this fault code ST 763 which relates to: SURVITESSE ( OVERSPEED ).How can we search or “ GO-TO “ in the S7 program?.In the cross reference table or in the Blocks, how can we search for “ Survitesse “ or ST-763 CODE?This code is being shown on the HMI via S7-300 PLC.Awaiting your reply.Thank you again in advance.R.Tony.
